According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Seyed Javad Hosseini, Head of Iran’s Welfare Organization, stated during the administrative council meeting of the organization in Sistan and Baluchestan that the main goal of his visit to the province was to assess the current conditions, opportunities, and social challenges, particularly in the field of welfare services.
He noted that over the past ten days, these issues have been thoroughly reviewed, leading to the decision to form a national working group with the participation of provincial officials, NGOs, and charitable organizations. “The aim is to enhance coordination and bring the province’s welfare indicators up to the national average — and then beyond,” Hosseini added.
The head of the Welfare Organization announced that, in addition to visiting seven ongoing projects nearing completion, two more projects would be inaugurated during this trip. He also mentioned scheduled meetings with the governor, deputy governors, and specialized groups to develop the 2025 action plan, particularly focusing on empowerment and social support.
Outlining this year’s key welfare programs, Hosseini said that all rural and nomadic women who are heads of households, as well as 20 percent of women living in urban areas with fewer than 20 households — totaling about 20,000 families — will receive free social insurance coverage. In addition, all persons with disabilities in need of wheelchairs will be equipped by the end of the year.
He went on to say that 1,100 job opportunities will be created for the organization’s target groups, and employment for 600 persons with severe disabilities will be provided through the construction of a three-megawatt solar power plant. Other major initiatives include granting educational aid to 30,000 students and university attendees under the organization’s coverage and returning 225 school dropouts to education.
Referring to health and rehabilitation initiatives, Hosseini said that the “Salam Plan,” a neighborhood-based screening program, has been launched in the province and will be expanded. The plan focuses on vision screening for the elderly, identifying young talents, providing skills training for adolescents, and implementing community-based rehabilitation programs in urban areas.
He also announced that social hubs will be established to promote well-being, leisure, and empowerment among older adults. Regarding housing, nearly 1,000 residential units are planned for the organization’s target groups, supported by interest-free loans of 400 million rials and non-repayable grants of up to 300 million rials.
