Ebrahim Kazemi Momen Sarai, Head of the secretariat of nationwide coordination of accessibility announced that in collaboration with Iran’s central bank a special bank card will be issued for the blind as soon as possible. In this line the blind will be able to read information such as first name, last name and expiration date on their cards in Braille. As well as he emphasized on following items:
· We had a lot of correspondence with the Central Bank and discussed about two issues: improving the physical space of banks and also improving the provision of banking services to the blind.
· With doing correspondence with the CEOs of the banks we agreed to optimize services for the blind in this line the necessary orders have been issued and it has been decided to allocate a counter in eight banks to provide services to the disabled, veterans and the blind without queuing.
· Issuing the check without having a trustworthy person for the blind.
· Measures in the field of optimizing the content of Internet, banks and banking websites for providing electronic services have been taken and set to enable the possibility of expression in the mobile software available in the agenda of banks.
It should be noted that based on the latest statistics about 200,000 people with blindness and low vision are under coverage of SWO which is 13% of the total number of persons with disabilities.
