50 Senior Hangout Centers Operating Nationwide / Iran Poised to Become an Elderly Tourism Destination

The head of the National Council for the Elderly Secretariat announced the establishment of 50 senior hangout centers and “Mehr & Dialogue” hubs across the country, highlighting ongoing efforts to develop age-friendly cities in Iran aimed at creating warm and welcoming environments for older adults.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Office, Mojgan Rezazadeh, Head of the Secretariat of the National Council for the Elderly, stated at the Age-Friendly Environment Conference held today, Tuesday, November 24, that special attention to Iran’s demographic and cognitive structure and accelerating the establishment of age-friendly cities in major metropolitan areas have been among the most significant outcomes of the provincial visits conducted by the Head of the State Welfare Organization. These efforts, she said, have strengthened managerial involvement and encouraged more active provincial engagement in this national initiative. Rezazadeh added that this level of managerial focus has shifted the programs from merely advisory plans to fully operational measures, with provinces now demonstrating greater responsibility in implementing the age-friendly city initiative. She expressed special appreciation to Dr.Hosseini, Head of the State Welfare Organization, noting that—despite the organization’s broad range of duties—he has, for the first time in the country, brought the issue of ageing to the forefront for national officials and policymakers with exceptional diligence and persistence.
