Iran Picks Majid Majidi’s ‘Sun Children’ For Oscar Contention

Tehran, Nov 8, IRNA -- After several consecutive sessions, Iranian drama film Sun Children directed by "Majid Majidi" was selected as the representative of Iranian cinema to be introduced to the 2021 Academy Awards by The delegation of the representative of Iranian cinema to the Oscar ceremony.

Iran has chosen childhood labor drama “Sun Children” as its national representative for the Academy Awards best international feature film category. It is the sixth time that a firm directed by Majid Majidi will represent the country. The film’s star, Ruhollah Zamani, was named the best young actor at the Italian festival and claimed the Marcello Mastroianni Award. Majidi was presented with the Lanterna Magica award.
